Frequently asked questions
Are my recordings uploaded anywhere?
No. The video stays in your browser memory and is only saved when you click Download. Nothing is uploaded.
Which browsers support this?
Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari 16+ on desktop. Mobile browsers do not support screen recording APIs.
Can I record system sound and my voice at the same time?
Yes. Toggle both Microphone and System Audio before starting. They are merged using AudioContext for clean output.
What format is the recording?
WebM with VP9 codec when supported, falling back to VP8 or default WebM. Most video editors can import .webm files directly.
Is there a time limit?
No hard limit. We show a soft warning around 5 and 10 minutes since long recordings get large and may slow your browser.
What happens if I click 'Stop sharing' in Chrome?
The recorder detects it instantly and stops cleanly, so the recording is still saved.
